JOINT MEETING 2/22/05
HEAR ABOUT THE NEW PORT
The Greater Hardeeville Chamber of
Commerce
and
The Hardeeville Businessmen's
Association
will hold a joint meeting at 12 Noon at
Jasper Restaurant, Route 17 at the Junction of Rte 17 and
I-95 South. The speaker will be Tom
Davis, of the SC Ports Authority. Mr. Davis has spoken recently with the
Jasper County Council. Luncheon is Dutch treat, and the meeting should get
underway at about 12:30 PM. You do not have buy a meal to attend.

February - Jasper Jamboree PKC* Coon Hunt
Held annually in February, this ever growing competition, sanctioned by
*Professional Kennel Club, tests owners and their dogs ability to trail and
force a raccoon up a tree. Point system used, cash prizes awarded and annual
barbecue.

March - Native American Pow-Wow
This annual event held just outside of Hardeeville at Millstone Landing
features American Indian dances, music, dress, crafts, food and customs.

October - Gopher Hill Festival - First Weekend of October
Prior to the 1890’s, Ridgeland was known as Gopher Hill due to
the abundance of Gopher Tortoises
inhabiting the area. The festival, named for this now endangered species, is
held annually the first Saturday in October. The event features an outdoor
concert, food booths, arts and crafts, parade, dance, kiddies rides and the
ever-popular Turtle Race. All events are held in the newly revitalized Main

Honey Hill Battle Reenactment
Step back in time and relive the most significant battle fought in Jasper
County during the Civil War. Confederate and Union actors in full period
costume will portray the Battle of Honey Hill as it was fought 135 years
ago. Witness the defense of the Charleston & Savannah railroad as gallant
South Carolina and Georgia troops hold off a large Yankee attack on the
fortifications at Honey Hill thus keeping the railroad open.

2004 - Celebrate Hardeeville
The City of Hardeeville and the Hardeeville Chamber of Commerce hosts the
annual "Celebrate Hardeeville"
festival. This family oriented event features free outdoor entertainment, a
variety of quality arts and crafts, food, carnival rides, games, catfish
stew cook-off, car show, an evening concert and fireworks display. All
events take place on Main Street, (Hwy. 46), in front of City Hall.

Hardeeville Festival Held October 25, 2003.
December - Christmas Parade - December 11, 2004
The City of Hardeeville and the Hardeeville Chamber of
Commerce hosts the annual "Christmas Parade". The family
oriented
parade provides a mornings entertainment of local and visiting clubs,
organizations, church groups, and local city departments on parade to
highlight the Christmas season. The 2004 parade will step off on Main
Street Hardeeville, (hwy 46), at 10:00 am, on December 11, 2004. As you can
see, the sky behind Santa was cloudless and temperatures warming into the
high 60's for last year's parade. What a way to begin the Christmas Season. For More Information on
